²⁰ God came to Balaam at night and said to him, “If the men come to call you, rise up and go with them. But surely the word which I will say to you, that will you do.”

Balaam, the Donkey, and the Angel

²¹ Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his donkey, and went with the princes of Moab. ²² The anger of God was inflamed because he went, and the angel^[a] of the Lord stood in the way as an adversary against him. Now he was riding on his donkey, and his two servants were with him.
